The ZC & ZD Fairlane Story

The ZC Fairlane arrived in July 1969 as Ford's larger, more luxurious companion to the XW Falcon. Its longer wheelbase, vertically stacked headlights and generous chrome gave it a distinctive presence, with an emphasis on passenger space and comfort.

Introduced in November 1970, the ZD carried that character into the XY Falcon era. A revised grille, updated rear lights and trim distinguished the newer model, while the range continued to offer V8 power. The ZD remained in production until March 1972, before the ZF Fairlane followed.

The appeal of these Fairlanes lies in their combination of Australian Ford heritage and American-influenced styling. This August 1971 ZD sits within that era, pairing its 302 Windsor with a column-shift automatic.
